Forge with the World's First
Non-Japanese Licensed
Swordsmith Mitsutsuna
Hands-on Swordsmith Experience in Hiroshima
2 Hours • Private Experience • 1–10 Guests
Meet Mitsutsuna (Johan Leutwiler)
For Johan Leutwiler, becoming a Japanese swordsmith was more than learning a traditional craft—it became a lifelong pursuit. Leaving his home in Switzerland, he spent years training in Japan, learning techniques that have been passed down through generations.
His commitment led him to achieve something once thought impossible: becoming the world’s first non-Japanese to receive an official Japanese swordsmith license. Today, he continues to forge swords under the name Mitsutsuna, blending deep respect for Japanese tradition with his own unique journey.
During this private experience, you’ll step inside his working forge, hear his remarkable story firsthand, and take part in the traditional forging process. More than simply observing, you’ll gain a rare opportunity to experience the craftsmanship, discipline, and spirit that lie behind every Japanese sword.
