Hiking and a Temple Retreat in the Mountains of Hiroshima

6 hours

Easy

Mt. Ungetsu invites you to explore its lush terrain, shaped by a periodic burning tradition that preserves open vistas and the mountain’s unique character. This practice honors past generations and reveals nature’s quiet rhythms of renewal.

After the hike, find a warm welcome at Jokenji Temple, where people gather to reflect together. Join a recitation led by a respected monk, offering a moment of spiritual grounding. Afterward, the monk shares a brief message inspired by Buddhist teachings.

The experience ends with Shojin Ryori—a Buddhist vegan meal rooted in sustainability and community. Reflecting Jokenji’s open-door spirit, it embodies the temple’s belief in welcoming all. The food expresses compassion, mindfulness, and respect for all life. Finish with a pleasant matcha tea session.

For convenient transportation, luxury van hire is available from 5,000 JPY. Prices vary by group size, and participants may select a city location for pick-up.
